Our Safer Spaces Policy is a community policy intended to help She Shapes History (the tours, social media, and any online or off-site events) be a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Everyone has the right to feel welcome, included, and safe on our tours. We invite everyone participating in a tour, from our guides to our guests, to participate in creating an inviting and safe environment. We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind.
We use the language of Safer Spaces because we believe that spaces are not safe simply because we designate them as such – it’s a goal that requires the constant effort of the community.
This policy is fundamentally about treating one another with respect. When attending a She Shapes History tour or engaging with our social media, we expect you to act respectfully towards every person you encounter.
By joining a She Shapes History tour, you agree to abide by the following guidelines:
Respect peoples’ opinions, beliefs, experiences and differing points of view.
Respect everyone’s identity. Do not assume anyone’s background, health, ability, sexual preference, etc.
Be responsible for your actions; be aware that your actions affect others, despite your intentions.
Listen and change your behaviour if someone tells you that you are making them uncomfortable.
Our team at She Shapes History is empowered to enforce these rules. If you fail to abide by the abovementioned guidelines, She Shapes History reserves the right to ask you to leave without a refund.
If you experience or witness harassment, abuse, or sexual assault, please approach a She Shapes History staff member whom you feel comfortable talking to in person or reach out via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We wish to acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of country – the Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri people. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the elders past, present and emerging.
