Pricing Transparency
One of our guiding values is transparency, which is why we've chosen to be completely open about pricing. We've priced our tours with accessibility and sustainability in mind. We've tried to keep our tour price as low as possible to be financially accessible. However, we do need to cover our overheads and pay our guides a living wage which is why the tour costs as much as it does. Still, we understand that for some people $120 can seem like a lot for a walking tour, which is why we've broken down our pricing to give you a clear understanding of the actual cost behind each ticket.

  • Commissions = $0–$30. Third-party sites take anywhere between 10% and 25% of a commission. So, depending on whether someone books direct or through a third party, this ranges between $0–$18.
  • Drinks = $40. We pay an average of $40 per person for drinks on this tour.
  • Guide = $40. We pay our guides well above award wage at $35 per hour. Based on our minimum booking number of four people, this works out to be $40pp.
  • Overheads = $15. Based on our minimum booking number of four people, this works out to be $15pp.
  • Profit = $0–$25. Our profit can range from $0–$25 depending on where someone books and how many people we have on the tour.

Why Kingston and Barton?
This area is one of Canberra’s oldest precincts. As you'll discover on the tour, over the years, it has been home to a colourful array of characters.

Why an afternoon tour?
This tour operates mid-to-late afternoon because we believe that a good day out shouldn’t equal a bad night’s sleep! The timing also makes this an excellent pre-dinner activity. If you’re making dinner reservations, we recommend no sooner than 8 pm, so you have time to fully enjoy your final drink.

Where does the tour end?

This tour ends at the Kingston Hotel. If you'd like us to make a dinner reservation for you – just let us know when you book.

What about the weather?

Our tours (like the show) must go on! We run tours rain or shine. Bring your umbrella, grab your poncho and get ready to have fun. We’ve never let a little rain stop us. And if you don't have an umbrella – don't worry, we always carry a few spares. Please wear clothes that are warm and dry if rain is forecasted. In extreme weather conditions, we may need to cancel the tour when safety is a concern. If weather creates a safety concern, either before or during the experience, we may either cancel or reschedule the experience/tour. If this happens, you will be fully refunded.

What is the refunds and rescheduling policy?

We understand that sometimes bookings need to change. Your booking with She Shapes History is flexible and secure – we know first-hand how important flexibility is to planning a stress-free holiday. We charge zero fees for eligible cancellations and offer unlimited free changes to your booking. We want you to have a great experience, and will always do our best to reschedule you for another tour or provide options wherever possible. You can reschedule the date or time of your experience (or add guests) within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before the experience is scheduled to start. If you reschedule an experience, the cancellation policy is based on the original purchase time and original start date of the experience.

Our tours depart at the scheduled tour start time. If you show up late or don't show up at all, we won't be able to offer a refund. For most tours, it is not logistically possible to join the group after it has started.
